THE BROWNSEA ISLAND EXPERIENCE
2010 NATIONAL BOY SCOUT JAMBOREE
We’re Looking For A Few Good “Lads”
The Brownsea Island Experience is recruiting Youth Staff members for the 2010
National Scout Jamboree to portray the young men that accompanied General
Baden-Powell on the very first experimental Scout campout to England’s Brownsea
Island in 1907.
Perhaps you visited the Brownsea Island exhibit during the 2005 Jamboree and saw
what terrific fun it was. Or, you saw it in previous Jamboree videos, or on
television, and saw how the “lads” dressed in period clothing of the day, spoke
with British accents and relived the founding of Scouting. Even if one of your
Scouting friends just told you about the historical re-enactment of the games
those boys played and the lessons they learned, you realize that it’s a great
way to be a special participant at the Jamboree.
Well, here’s your chance to portray a key figure in the birth of Scouting, use
your acting skills and be one of the most highly-photographed persons at the
jamboree - all while having plenty of time to see the Jamboree yourself – and at
discount prices!
If you will be between the ages of 16 and 21 during the Jamboree, you qualify to
be on Jamboree Youth Staff for the total price of $397.50, which includes your
meals and housing. That’s only half what adults pay!

You can also download an application to be on the Brownsea Island Experience
staff on the website. You can visit our staff website at www.glcscouting.org/Brownsea/.
